Dear Rahi Team,
The past week in the US has been witness to an ongoing debate about better inclusivity and the racism that has now come to the forefront with the injustice to Mr. George Floyd and his family.
Our goal in life, no matter where we live, is to make it better for others and ourselves.
In the words of Nelson Mandela, “What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived, it is the difference we have made in the lives of others."
In order to make a change, we must be the change. All of us can make a change every single day and below are some of my thoughts and actions which we as a company will take so that we can continue to be and grow as a culturally diverse organization.
1. Embracing Diversity – In the next 12 months, our team will work carefully to measure and increase our diversity across the globe. This is our goal, and I will ensure that our leadership will actively pursue this around the globe, and we will ensure that we will continue to embrace diversity.
2. Giving Back – The definition of diversity is – Understanding that each individual is unique and recognizing our individual differences. Recognizing people regardless of their race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, age, physical abilities, religious beliefs, political beliefs, or other ideologies, has to start with us. One of the aspects of our Rahi Culture is giving back.
As a global company, our team members come from a wide range of diverse backgrounds.
It goes without saying that we must all make the effort to ensure we are giving everyone an equal voice, to include them in the conversation, and to ensure that their viewpoint is heard.
We should give back by sharing our knowledge, experience, and also guiding them to better avenues in their career. Sometimes, just lending our ear and listening can also be very meaningful for the other person.
I can tell you that I have personally experienced the power of listening and giving voice on this topic with customers and employees, several times on this very specific topic.
We must ignore and reject the voices which fuel divisiveness. In the words of the Mahatma, “I will not let anyone walk through my mind with their dirty feet".
3. Participation – I hope that all of you participate in this. Whether it is at home, socially, or at work. We must participate in it to make things better.
If any of you have concerns, please reach out to your leader or myself, and we are here to listen.
Thank You and Stay Safe!
